Douglas is the Head of Mexico for Appian Capital and is responsible for establishing and strengthening Appian’s relationships with mining companies operating in Mexico, with the primary objective of identifying and sourcing potential investment opportunities that align with Appian’s objectives. His responsibilities include assisting in the due diligence process, the execution of transactions and the presentation of new investment opportunities to the Investment Committee. Douglas is also responsible for promoting Appian’s value proposition and increasing its visibility within the local industry by leveraging his extensive network and knowledge of Mexico.

Douglas is the founding President of Mexico Mining Center, the largest digital communication medium for the Mexican mining industry and organizer of the Discoveries Mining Conference, held annually since 2016 and now recognized as one of Latin America’s leading technical conferences focused on mining exploration, innovation and development.

Douglas is a Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG) and recently served as Regional Vice President for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. He is also an independent director of CMC Metals Ltd. and Ashley Gold Corp.

Douglas is a geological engineer who graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in 1988. Based in Hermosillo, Sonora since 1991, Douglas has developed an in-depth understanding of the local industry and a strong network of contacts throughout the region. With over 30 years of experience in mining exploration in Mexico, he has established himself as a respected industry leader.
