Appian Capital Advisory LLP (“Appian”), the investment advisor to long-term value-focused private capital funds that invest in mining and mining-related companies, announces that it has terminated the transaction to sell its Brazilian portfolio companies Atlantic Nickel (“Atlantic Nickel”) and Mineração Vale Verde (“MVV”) (together the “Assets”) to ACG Acquisition Company Limited (“ACG”) (the “Transaction”).
Appian continues to receive significant interest in its copper and nickel Assets from other parties and will provide updates on the sale process in due course.
Atlantic Nickel and MVV are long-life, low-cost, cash-generative operations, producing nickel sulphide and copper concentrates, ranked within the first decile for carbon emissions amongst all nickel and copper producers worldwide. These characteristics remain attractive for global automotive manufacturers, providing a transparent and secure supply of critical metals to meet future demand to enable the energy transition. Having acquired the Assets and brought them into production, Atlantic Nickel and MVV continue to exhibit a strong financial profile with a combined 2022 adjusted EBITDA of US$260 million.
