DESCRIPTION
Graham is a Senior Operating Partner at Appian. He is based in London and is responsible for identifying and analyzing opportunities predominantly from a technical and geosciences perspective.
Graham has 40 years of experience in the mining and exploration business employed as a chief geologist, senior executive and global leader of a highly successful award-winning discovery team. He has lived and worked on 4 continents, completed more than 100 technical assignments, covering a range of commodities in over 25 countries.
Graham has previously worked at Amax as an exploration geologist in Australasia then as a consultant to Normandy in Europe before joining Minorco as Chief Geologist, working with the projects and acquisitions teams in Eastern Europe, Central Asian Republics, Middle East and the Subcontinent. He worked at Anglo American for 15 years, occupying a variety of senior roles but most recently as the Group Head of Geosciences reporting to the Technical Director, where he was responsible for the governance, oversight and assurance of all aspects of the geosciences and exploration activities across the Anglo American Group.
Graham earned his BSc. from Strathclyde University, Scotland in 1980 and received his MSc. from James Cook University, Australia in 1984. He has been a Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists since 1999. In 2011, he was the co-recipient of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada – Thayer Lindsley Award, for the discovery of the world-class Los Sulfatos copper-molybdenum deposit in Chile. From 2013, he attained both Chartered Geologist and European Geologist professional status. He is currently an honorary research fellow at the Natural History Museum in London.
