DESCRIPTION
Guillermo is a Managing Partner of Appian Capital Advisory. Guillermo is based between both London and Lima, responsible for deal sourcing, transaction negotiations, due diligence and structuring of transactions, credit committee processes and portfolio company oversight. Guillermo retains a strong presence in Latin America, having access to a number of the largest and most important public and private mining companies on the continent.
Prior to joining Appian, Guillermo worked for another mining private equity fund from 2008 to 2015.
Prior to joining a metals and mining private equity fund, Mr. Kaelin worked in investment banking with JPMorgan’s Metals and Mining division serving as an advisor for M&A, debt and equity transactions for a wide range of clients in the mining and metals industry, including: Newmont, Glamis (now Goldcorp), Hochschild, Yamana, Teck Cominco, Phelps Dodge, Gold Reserve, Peñoles, Atacocha and Reliance Steel.
Guillermo has extensive experience managing portfolio companies and served as an Executive Director and as a Chairman on both publicly listed and private mining companies serving as Director of Sierra Metals (TSX: SMT) and Chairman of Sociedad Minera Corona.
Guillermo is an Industrial Engineer and holds a Master in Finance from ESAN University and an MBA from The University of Chicago GSB.
Guillermo and Michael have known each other and worked together since 2006.
