LUCAS SARTO
VP, Integrated Planning
DESCRIPTION
Lucas Sarto is Vice President of Integrated Planning at Appian, responsible for the integrated planning function across the global portfolio – bringing together strategic planning, PMO and FP&A into a single, consolidated view of operational and financial performance. The function spans integrated business planning, risk management and operational excellence, helping Appian’s assets realize their full potential value.
He joined Appian Brazil in 2019 as PMO Manager and implemented the Corporate PMO function – which remains a core pillar of the broader integrated planning scope – rolling it out to the operational sites (Atlantic Nickel and MVV). His earlier position in Appian’s Brazilian subsidiary was FP&A Manager, responsible for budgeting, forecasting and overall cost management and financial performance.
Lucas has more than 15 years of experience in Program Management Office (PMO) for mega capital projects in the mining industry in Brazil, United Arab Emirates, and West Africa. He was a PMO member of Anglo American’s Iron Ore Brazil project and after the start of operations supported the Operating Model roll-out, during the ramp-up phase. Prior to joining Appian Capital Brazil, Mr. Sarto was the PMO Coordinator for Mubadala’s bauxite export project in Guinea, also working closely with the project financing process and establishing the Integrated Business Planning function in the company, focusing on the development of the local workforce, in preparation for the steady-state operation phase.
Lucas is Brazilian, a native Portuguese-speaker, and fluent in English and French. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and a Masters in Quality Engineering, both from Minas Gerais Catholic University (PUC Minas).
