Senior Underground Mining Engineer
DESCRIPTION
Gavin Clow is an experienced mining engineer with a strong background in the mining and metals industry. He has a demonstrated history of working with mine planning, financial modeling, and feasibility studies.
From 2024 to the present, Clow has served as the Chief Mining Engineer at West Red Lake Gold in Ontario, where he was responsible for overseeing the restart of the Madsen Mine. His duties included building an engineering team, reviewing mine plans to mitigate production risks, and ensuring that short-term plans aligned with long-term budgets. He also developed and formalized mining methodologies and managed project metrics to ensure adherence to schedules and budgets. Prior to this role, he was a Manager of Mining at Optimize Group in Toronto, where he led a team of mining engineers and acted as a Qualified Person for underground mining studies. He oversaw full mine designs, including geotechnical studies, equipment selection, and project costing.
Earlier in his career, Clow gained experience as a Mining Engineer/Senior Project Estimator at Dumas Contracting, where he managed project estimates and led the transition to InEIGHT estimation software. He also worked as a Mine Planning Engineer at Klondex Mines, where he created production plans and designed drill and blast strategies for narrow vein gold ore bodies. As a Mining Engineer at Rambler Metals and Mining, he was responsible for production plans, reserve estimations, and evaluating the economic viability of historical pillar recovery.
He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mineral Engineering from the University of Toronto. He is a member of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) since 2018.
