DESCRIPTION
Marcus is Vice President of Mining at Appian. Marcus is based in Australia and is responsible for undertaking technical due diligence on underground mining projects, principally from an engineering, mine planning and mine optimization perspective.
Marcus has over 20 years of underground mining experience in owner, contracting and consulting roles working on a large range of operations across commodity, size and jurisdiction. His extensive experience covers a wide range of base and precious metal commodities.
Prior to joining Appian, Marcus undertook a number of study and operational assignments across a wide range of underground hard rock mining methods, including handheld stoping, cut-and-fill, drift-and-fill, longhole open stoping, sub-level open stoping, sub-level caving, block caving and room & pillar.
During his 14-year tenure with AMC Consultants, a leading Australian mining consultancy firm, Marcus was the lead mining engineer on numerous operational projects, life of mine plans and feasibility studies, and had an ongoing involvement with BHP’s giant Olympic Dam mine.
Marcus holds a Master of Science in Mineral Economics from Curtin University.
