Outi Nevala is Chief of Staff for Appian’s Founder and CEO, Michael W Scherb, and is based at the London office.

During her 25-year career, Outi has supported a number of leadership functions, with many of the companies at a start-up or expansion phase, involving her in a wide range of activities integral to business development.

Outi joined Appian from a global infrastructure asset manager with over US$140bn under management, where she completed 14 years’ service. Initially assisting the investment team during a strong period of investment activity, including transactions to acquire assets such as an electricity transmission network in Germany, district heating in Poland and large transport assets in the UK, Outi later focused more on relationships with the asset companies, senior advisors and other key stakeholders on behalf of senior management. As the company matured, Outi took on a more managerial role in overseeing many of the corporate services and aspects of HR, while the local leadership leaned on her in driving operational and administrative processes and promoting an inclusive and diverse company culture.

Prior to this, Outi built up experience at diverse companies including supporting a Canadian rating agency’s European expansion, working with the Head of Financial Institutions to establish a market presence and dealing with communications and media, as well as at international law firms within their capital markets departments.

Outi has a BBA from Helsinki University of Applied Sciences.
