Diogo Oliveira is Director, Environmental & Social at Appian. Diogo will oversee portfolio companies to guarantee robust ESG performance across the portfolio, aligning with market best practices and the group’s overarching strategies.

Diogo joined from Appian Capital Brazil, where he started in August 2020 as Corporate Affairs, People, and HSE Manager, progressing to ESG and People Director in November 2022. During his time at Appian Brazil, Diogo helped establish the HSE, Corporate Affairs and HR functions for all Brazilian assets. He helped strengthening the safety culture and performance, securing environmental and social integration with local host communities, and was actively engaged in due diligence and project financing.

Diogo brings over a decade of experience in Corporate Affairs, Social Development, HSE, and Human Resources, primarily from across the mining and retail sectors. His career includes leadership roles at global industry leaders such as Anglo American and L’Oréal, with international assignments spanning France and South Africa.

Diogo is Brazilian and fluent in Portuguese, English and French. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Uberlândia. Further education includes a Postgraduate Specialization in Health & Safety Engineering from the Minas Gerais Catholic University (PUC Minas), a complementary degree in Green Chemistry and Bioprocesses for Sustainable Development from the École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier, and he is currently completing an MBA in ESG and Strategic Sustainability Management at FIA Business School.
