DESCRIPTION
Based in London, Wade Bickley is COO of the Base Metals group and is responsible for operational oversight and mine project development across Appian’s portfolio of Base Metals Assets.
Wade’s mining career of 26 years has spanned Base Metals (Cu, Pb/Zn), Precious Metals (Au/Pt/Ag), Diamonds and Bulks (Fe Ore), in Executive, Senior Leadership and management roles across operations, technical and project roles.
Prior to joining Appian, Wade was Executive Head Mining Technical for Anglo American Platinum, and Head of Underground Mining (Anglo American plc). He has been living and working globally since 2012 when he was GM Mining / Operations with Anglo Gold Ashanti at Obuasi Mine, Ghana. Wade worked across mining development projects in Botswana, Mali, Colombia before joining Anglo American in 2018.
His early career mining experience was predominantly in underground base metals and gold mining across Australia, working in mine and marketing management roles for BHP Billiton prior to changing to the offshore mining industry in Africa.
Wade holds a Bachelor of Mining Engineering (IA Hons) and Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) from the University of Queensland, Australia. He holds a First Class Mine Manager certification in Australia (Queensland & Western Australia) and Ghana.
