Derek is a member of Appian’s Financial Team. He is based in Toronto and focuses on investment evaluation, transaction execution, and portfolio management.

Prior to joining Appian, Derek worked for New Gold, where he was engaged in various corporate and capital market transactions. Before that, Derek worked as an investment banker in Cantor Fitzgerald’s Metals & Mining group on M&A and capital market transactions across commodities.

Derek is a CFA Charterholder and holds a B.A. (Hons) in Economics from The University of Western Ontario.
