DESCRIPTION
Luis is a senior mining executive with over 30 years of international experience across operations, capital projects, supply chain, continuous improvement, and commercial leadership in the base and precious metals sectors across Latin America, North America, and the Middle East.
At Appian, he drives operational performance and value creation across the firm’s portfolio companies, leading continuous improvement and supply chain initiatives focused on efficiency, cost optimization, and sustainable margin expansion.
Luis has a track record of delivering value through large-scale transformation, with deep experience across both operating assets and multi-billion-dollar capital projects. Prior to joining Appian, he was Director of Commercial & Trading at Maaden in Saudi Arabia, where he helped transform the commercial model to a market-driven approach, delivering multi-million-dollar incremental value alongside sustained improvements in contract terms, working capital and cash flow.
He previously held senior supply chain, commercial, continuous improvement and project services roles at Newmont, Goldcorp and Barrick across operating mines and capital projects.
Luis holds a degree in Industrial Engineering, an MBA, and a master’s degree in the Governance of Organizations, and is currently a doctoral candidate in Direction and Innovation.
