DESCRIPTION
Geoff is the Senior Advisor to Appian in North America. Based in Toronto, Canada, Geoff is responsible for the North American region encompassing origination, due diligence, transaction evaluation, structuring and execution and portfolio company oversight. Prior to joining Appian, Geoff was Managing Director and Head of North American Mining Investment Banking at J.P. Morgan. During this period, Geoff originated and successfully executed M&A, debt and equity transactions valued at over US$40 billion for a wide variety of clients including Newmont, Barrick, Teck, Kinross, amongst other industry players.
Prior to joining JPMorgan in 2010, Geoff was in the mining group at a Canadian investment bank where he focused on providing advisory services and raising capital for North American and global mining companies. From 2005 until 2009, Geoff was a senior professional in the M&A groups of both Merrill Lynch and Credit Suisse where he focused on the natural resources sector. Geoff started his banking career in the M&A group at RBC Capital Markets.
Geoff holds a BSc. in Engineering from Queen’s University and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Geoff has known Michael and Guillermo since 2010.
Senior Advisors are not full-time employees of Appian and the terms of their engagement as Senior Advisors permit them to, and it is expected they will, have other industry roles and businesses. To the extent an Appian-advised investment vehicle or a portfolio company engages a Senior Advisor (or a company with which such Senior Advisor is affiliated with or employed by) for services, the relevant vehicle will bear the fees and costs of such services. No Appian-advised investment vehicle will bear the costs for the provision of services within a Senior Advisor’s stated responsibilities to Appian.
