Todd is Appian’s Head of Legal, Global M&A. He leads the legal aspects of all mergers, acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, private credit and other strategic transactions. He is also involved in company portfolio matters, working with the team to drive value throughout the portfolio.

Todd is qualified to practice both New York and English law, with extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and private debt, including distressed situations.  In private practice, he was an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (Chicago), Simpson Thacher & Bartlett (New York) and Debevoise & Plimpton (London) and counsel at Freshfields (London).

Over the course of his in-house career in the natural resources sector, Todd has worked on international transactions aggregating over $92 billion in value across six continents—first as Assistant General Counsel for International M&A at Hess and most recently as Legal Manager, Global M&A at Anglo American.

Todd has a B.A., in philosophy and political science from Florida State University and a J.D. from The University of Michigan Law School.
