Augusto is Director of Processing and Metallurgy at Appian and works in the operation team and with portfolio companies closely post-investment. Augusto has over 30 years of mining projects, mineral processing and metallurgy experience, most recently as VP of projects and metallurgy for Sierra Metals and VP of Projects for Rio Alto Mining.

Augusto was General Manager in charge of operations and projects at Milpo-Votorantim Metals. Before that, he was Country Manager at Pueblo Viejo Megaproject in Dominican Republic and Concentrator Manager at Antamina Mine. Augusto spent seven years with Barrick Misquichilca where he built the Lagunas Norte Gold Project from grassroots. He was Barrick’s Regional Director for capital projects for South America and served various roles with Southern Peru Copper Corporation in the Cuajone Concentrator and Toquepala SX-EW Projects.

Augusto is a Peruvian citizen and holds a Bachelor Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from National University of San Marcos and earned a Master of Science in Mineral Processing Engineering from Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology in Butte, MT, USA.
