Sam is a Senior Vice President at Appian. He is responsible for sourcing opportunities, evaluating investments, executing transactions, and overseeing portfolio companies.

Prior to joining Appian, Sam worked in Vitol’s Investment Team, focusing on investments across the energy and metals value chains. He previously held investment roles at Macquarie and Foresight Group, with a focus on the energy transition. Sam began his career in valuations, where he qualified as an ACA (Chartered Accountant) and completed the CFA.

Sam holds a degree in Chemistry with Management from the University of Warwick.
